Hi folks, Wendi here. I know Matt and I haven't been participating in the March Madness activities, but I thought I would submit the following link for your enjoyment (sorry, couldn't post the video directly on the blog -- also, there's a commercial you have to sit through first).
OK, Kurtis Blow is singing about professional basketball as opposed to college, but hey -- the spirit is there. And the breakdancing is cool too. :-)
Enjoy!

Thanks, Wendi for a stroll down Scary Eighties Lane. I loved this song--it was the first rap I ever memorized. Everybody at school used to sing it, and I loved basketball, so I learned it too.
(What's amazing is that anybody every thought it was actually cool . . . Oh the shame!)
Kurtis Blow was a master rapper in the infancy of the art. All modern day rappers should look to him for inspiration, especially in the art of bugging your eyes out of your head and making emphatic gestures at key points in the song.
And how about those ballers in the background! Man, they could play some ball back in the day!
Finally, why the numchucks and blades? Maybe ghetto ball is even rougher than I thought.
Fun video. Thx.
I think Kurtis Blow is on to something with combination of basketball and street karate fights.
At first I Thought it was Kurtis flying throught the air for the dunks but sadly I don't think it was.

I run the website www.clevver.com, thanks for posting a video from our site on your blog! Sorry about the commercial before it, but we gotta feed ourselves someway. Thanks.
I thought it was a joke until I read Mark's comment (sorry, Mark!). Thanks for the laugh, Wendi. I can't believe that's for real. And those cheerleaders...so weird!
You know, although I was alive during the 80's, that culture wasn't big for me since I was 10 when the 80's came to an end. I did, however, have some nice 80's hairdos, some good clothes from that era...but many of the songs of the time didn't have a big impact on my life. Except for "Walk Like an Egyptian" - I could do the head/neck movement from that music video and thought I was SO cool! Was that from the 80's?
Anyway, so funny to look back on what we thought was cool from our younger years. :)
