2010 Reunion Schedule

Alright folks! Here is the proposed schedule. Keep in mind, if you don't like something but you don't make your voice heard, it's your fault if we do it that way at the reunion and you hate it. In other words, speak up now and we'll try to accomodate. I'll add menus as people choose to disclose them.

Also, the assigned times are ballpark. I wrote "planned leisure time" for activities like going to the Iron Springs Store, smaller groups going hiking, rock climbing, visiting cousins, and anything you want to do. Dana, I think swimming is on this list, but I think there will be enough time to go. The Yank Fosters would love to go with you.. we'll make sure and bring our swimming gear.

Finally, not a lot of assignments have been made. If you see something you'd like to be in charge of let me know. Hopefully the revised edition will indicate exactly who's going to be doing what.

Loving the sights and sounds of the improved Forever Fosters Blog. There must be new management . . .

I think the schedule looks great. I will take the assignment of organizing the home run derby, seeing as I am the defending champion. There will be men's, women's and children's divisions, so bring your whooping stick. (I will be competing in the children's division so as to ensure my title defense.)

I suggest we go see Inception for the adult movie night on Friday night. Toy Story 3 is a great idea for Monday afternoon, one of the greatest movie's ever.

I think we should plan on aFoster/Rustand basketball showdown on Saturday morning . . . and, just saying, it will probably spill into Sunday morning as well. We can play the classic matchup sometime on Mon through Wed.

Speaking of which, Margaret, do we know which Rustands are coming when? We need to make sure they are properly issued a challenge for the basketball games. And just so my brothers know, I've recently rediscovered my game. Yeah, I'm back, baby.

My final thought: I think we should all plan on VERY simple breakfasts, so that no gathering is required, people can awake and eat on their own and feed kids on their own schedule. I'm talking extremely simple: cereal, bagels, fruitages . . . that's what I'd hope for every single breakfast, as long as there are Crunchberries. I'd say the same thing for lunch, as well.

Also, on Tuesday afternoon, right after the Ping Pong tourney, I will be making my "Tiny Tarts in Icebox Hero's Journey." While this epic quest back to my roots will be done solo, any family members are invited to (silently) observe the poignancy.

It looks great Angie. The only thing I see is the Ping Pong Tournament being on Tuesday afternoon. Kristen and I will be leaving Tuesday afternoon for our flight at 7 or 8 that night. We all know who the overwhelming favorite is even though the Mick is the "defending" champ. Anyway, it looks great and we are really excited.

Oh and Mark, last year you won the minor league home run derby. Welcome to the big leagues!!!

Angie,
Terrific job. As is normal, when the women take over a job it gets done correctly and thoroughly. Not that the previous manager was bad, but he has definitely been shown how things should be done.

It seems like a busy few days. I think my mother and Patti and Bob will be getting up earlier than 5 p.m. on Sunday, so they can get her down earlier. We had thought about a late lunch with them on that day. May have to shift some things around on that day.

The devotional is a great idea and I vote for Megan being in charge of that if she will take that responsiblity on. Simple and short but a nice way to worship together as an entire family. Not sure we can have the sacrament on that day so I would suggest we not do that as I'm not totally sure how to get permission. One idea might be for Adam to ask his Bishop in Prescott if we can do that. Adam?

I note also Goose's concern about the Ping Pong tournament. Valid as we will need to leave for the airport by 3 or so, I would think. The defending champ is on injured reserve with a bad back and may have to sit this one out and not be able to defend the title due to the extreme pain he is in. It will be a shallow and meaningless win for whomever takes it this year. May have to be a game day decision on whether he can go or not. If he can't be at 100%, he may not want to compete. (although I have heard it said, even 50% of his game would be good enough to win against most in the clan!!)

I will prepare a crossword challenge for those who want to participate. Since the men against the women was a total blowout, perhaps we should divide up the teams differntly. (Ideas?)

I'll also start working on a trivia challenge and an agenda for the family counsel. Any ideas on what should be on the family counsel agenda?

I'm looking foward to relaxing and chilling with everyone and seeing my mom and celebrating her 92nd birthday at Iron Springs. That will be a nice thing for her to see all the kids. (hope she can handle the hub-bub) Some cards and simple gifts would be nice. We are giving her a $25 gift certificate from Walgreens. I would really like for her Great Grand Kids to sing a song or something for her as a group accompanied by Jeff or something like that. Just a very short program of some kind and maybe we could make a simple cake for her also.

Totally agree on the meals. Let's keep them simple and easy so no one has to fret over that portion of our reunion. Let's have lots of snacks and treats that everyone can eat during the day. That is what Iron Springs is all about.

I personally plan on reading a couple of books, catching up on my journal and bascially doing a whole lot of nuttin!

We ought to also have a jigsaw puzzle going somewhere...maybe a couple. That is always a good thing and also I will bring the Ipod player so we can have some tunes going all the time.

Thanks Angie for doing this. You're the best.

We vote that the home-run derby be changed so that Adam can show up Mark. If Adam's memory is correct Mark won on a technicality last time. Adam won't know his schedule until the week of the reunion, so maybe we can plan on being flexible. He is pretty sure he will be there on the weekend and at night.

Also, we both think that it would be a lot of fun to have a baby shower for Kristen. Especially for Laura and Dana who won't be able to be at her Denver baby shower. Any ideas? Maybe during the Ladies morning out.

Everything else looks great. We are really excited to see everybody and for everybody to see Jane and her extreme cuteness.

Adam and Laura

ps- Angie, we were just watching the old spice commercials this morning. It was quite the coincidence that you posted the BYU parody on the same day. We loved it!

Thanks Angie,
Nicely redesigned blog. Thanks for organizing all of this. As for any suggestions... I can babysit for all who would like to go see the movie "Inception". I hope we can keep the hike to Humpty Dumpty, talent show, and the ladies morning all on the schedule. As for the food, I recommend that we not bring soda pop( with the exception of root beer for the floats with the Rustands). I also recommend that we not have lots of cookies, candy, fruit snacks, etc. around for the kids to eat all day long. Everyone always prepares such delicious food for meals, I'd like for the kids to have an appetite for that. Besides, going to the the Iron Springs store and picking a treat is kind of a daily tradition anyway. And there will be daily desserts. So, just a suggestion, but I vote for fruits/veggies to snack on in the cabins. As for Grandma's birthday musical program, I can choose songs for the kids to sing. I can post a list for the moms to help the kids practice before Iron Springs. Also, I can head up a kids birthday poster or banner that they can decorate before that Sunday. Thanks!

One more thought: Why don't we all bring good reusable water bottles and use them all week (even for meals). They are portable, sometimes insulated, and sturdy. Then we shouldn't have to buy or throw away disposable water bottles or plastic cups. We might be able to cut down on our waste that way. Also, it would be easy for each person or family to clean their own water bottle at the end of the day. Just a thought.

Angie,

So much work...and such a great job! Thanks for putting this all together. The schedule looks great to us!

We will let you know what we are cooking as soon as we remember to discuss it. :) Soon. I promise. And as for meals, I do agree that simple is great....however, I hope that doesn't mean NOT having the Yank Fosters famous pancakes that I am already really excited about (and sure I'll want the recipe for)! So I say - go as simple or as complicated as you want on your day to cook. If, for example, we decided to make Crispy Chicken Costoletta for our dinner (which we won't...sorry! it really is too much work), I'm sure you'd all be thanking us afterward. :) But even if we plan on something hot for breakfast or lunch, we'll just plan to have it done early-ish and then keep it warm to adjust to other's schedules. Does that work? That way nobody feels pressure to be at the table at a certain time but the cooks get creative license on their meals. Our kids are hot food kind of eaters so we'll be planning somewhat for them on our day.

LOVE the idea of a baby shower for Kristen during Ladies Morning Out. And Angie and I were talking about going out for brunch that morning...??? Any ideas, ladies?

Ty mentioned that he would like to find time for a Classic Match-up with just the Foster boys on either Monday or Tuesday since they'll be playing with the Rustands on the weekend.

Okay, that's all from the WA Fosters. Looks great, we are super excited and talk about it every day. The kids have envelopes collecting money for the IS Store as they do chores (thanks for the idea, Ang!) and Max already called Cal to make sure he brings his cape; be ready for some action from The Savers!

Yes! Let's have a baby shower for Kristen! Will we know if it's a boy or a girl???

This is Mom commenting:

Yay..sounds so fun! Mick and Mag would love to organize the leftover meals. Should we switch Girls Morning out to Monday and have Kristen's shower then? How about inviting Carson if she is available? The Bashford shops are always fun or
we could go to the Prescott Mall(towards Prescott Valley) Maybe our Prescott resident, Laura, has an idea...

What about golf while we are down there? Is there any time for that?

To Moms:

How about we have the kids sing "Your Happy Birthday" page 283 in the Primary Children's songbook to Grandma Helen. Most kids know it and the rest can learn. :) Also I'm planning on a kids cheer. It will take a few minutes to organize but it will be super cute!!!

Thanks!
